Aysén, October 25th, 2019. (radiodelmar.cl) – The tragedy of salmon workers does not stop and while the social political crisis in Chile that demands decent living and working conditions occurs, another crew member of a salmon farm disappeared in the southern zone. Fidel Ignacio Cáceres Chicuy, a young worker originally from Chiloé, who on Wednesday (10.23.2019) fell into the sea from “Cahuel” ship of Frasal company in Aysén.
Frasal vessels provide services to Camanchaca, Skretting (Norwegian company), Salmon Austral, Multiexport Foods (Nissui) , Marine Farm, Snowdrifts, NovaAustral (Norwegian-North american company), SuperSalmón, Aquachile and Cermaq (Mitsubishi) , among others Salmon Companies.
Cahuel vessel, which carries salmon, was denounced by the Maritime Federation of Southern Chile for lax inspections by the competent authorities to give permission to set sail. The bad conditions and weakening of the security, habitability and rest in these salmon vessels were denounced. «Companies want to work only with minimum security provisions.
