Health Unions concerned about high cases of Covid-19 in Chiloe, blame on salmon companies
QUELLON HEALTH UNIONS EXPRESS THEIR CONCERN ABOUT A POSSIBLE «SANITARY CATASTROPHE»

With a public statement signed by Quellon´s Hospital FENPRUSS, Unitary FENATS and Historical FENATS, 7 points are raised that may contribute to contain the pandemic in the port city.
“Given the serious pandemic situation in our commune, the health unions of the Quellon Hospital express to the community the following:
1- Given the increase in positive cases of Covid that has us with the highest rate in the country, we consider that not all the necessary measures have been taken to stop what can lead us to a situation of health catastrophe, since our hospital does not have the capacity to resolve situations that require management of critical patients.
2- A basic ambulance with its own transfer equipment is urgently required.
3- It is urgently necessary to close operations for 15 days in the different salmon industries and others, since the majority focus of contagion on in them. For the same reason, it is requested that Health Authorities effectively and permanently supervises the way to protect workers health to not produce an imminent health collapse.
4- It is mandatory to lockdown the island and implement a Sanitary Cordon in the Avellanal sector, a measure that kept us for almost 9 months with a very low contagion rate.
5- It is necessary to strengthen Primary Health Care with human resources, being the fundamental pillar of the Traceability and Isolation Testing strategy.
6- Urgent implementation of sanitary residence in the commune.
7- We believe that the necessary personnel should be provided to be able to replace officials at our hospital, who are collapsed in third-shift systems facing Covid -19 contingency daily.
